Ski Vancouver Island
Something for Everyone

Mount Washington offers the finest downhill and cross country skiing on
Vancouver Island. Whether you prefer downhill skiing, snowboarding, or
cross-country, Mount Washington has something for you.
With an average snowfall of over 33 feet and snow conditions similar to
those found at Whistler, Mount Washington is being used as a training
site for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The Swedish cross-country team has already confirmed their training schedule for 2009 and other teams are also expected.
You don't have to be an Olympian to enjoy Mount Washington. With over
55 kms of backcountry trails and 18 downhill runs, Mount Washington
offers something for the entire family.
The Mount Washington ski hill opens in early December. The exact date
will depend on local snow conditions. For more information on opening
dates, please visit the Mount Washington website.
Looking for Adventure
A two-hour drive north from Pacific Playgrounds is Mount Cain. Run by
the "Mt. Cain Alpine Park Society, it is Vancouver Island's only
community owned and operated ski-hill." This is skiing as it used to be;
no lineups and fresh powder. The ski hill is open weekends and it is
best to check their website for details.
